We were made to fear our hormones and we have been misled about what our hormones do for us, how they are protective, not harmful.  I hope to dispel some of the fear and stigma about menopause and hormone therapy for you."- Kelley

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

- anonymous on HotPause Health

I had been having issues with just not feeling myself. Terrible hip pain, trouble sleeping, itchy skin, dry eyes, migraines, mood changes, fatigue. I went to my PCP who told me I was depressed and put me on an antidepressant, that did not help. I went to an orthopedic for my hip pain, xray negative, told me there was nothing wrong with my hip. I went to my eye doctor for my dry eyes, gave me eye drops that did not help.
It was not until I saw Kelley that it all made sense. I was 49 years old, still having regular periods, and was in perimenopause. No one else put all of my symptoms together and treated them like they were coming from the same source. Every other doctor was treating me in pieces. Kelley was the first one to listen to me and put it all together. She spent time with me, she could empathize with how I was feeling because she had been there too.She started me on hormone replacement therapy, and within 2 weeks, I felt different, not totally better, but better than I had felt in 4-5 years. She increased my dose at my follow up, and now all of my symptoms are gone. I feel like myself again. I have energy, want to do things, I’m sleeping better than I have in years. If anyone in the Pittsburgh area needs help I highly recommend her

As a new patient, she was very focused and showed concern about my health issues. Highly recommend her and this practice.

Bloated, irritable, no energy, poor cravings, depression, weight gain... perimenopause is no joke!!! PROPER HRT changed all of this for me in a short time. I feel like me again, not just a fake smile, eating clean and working out again. I highly recommend if you feel like this at all to consult with Kelley DeFilippis, she will help you feel whole again.

Hi. I saw you about two weeks ago for hrt for perimenopause. I’m the girl w really painful shoulders and arms. I need to thank you…I was in such a dark place for so long. Just ten days on these meds the pain has almost left my arms and shoulders and my brain feels so much better. All of me feels so much better. It’s been a really long time since I felt like a normal human.  I am so thankful for you. I am referring you to so many friends and family members. You just may have saved my marriage and life.  You are truly amazing!    I also appreciated the time you took to sit with me and explain everything. You really do care about your patients. I am sure there are many of  me walking around feeling the way I felt for so long that are not aware how affective HRT is. Perimenopause is very serious and does not get the attention that it deserves by our heath care system. PCPs and gynecologists are so dismissive about it. They want objective findings (such as labs) rather than subjective. They also do not take the time to listen either. What you are doing  is amazing and there needs to be more of you out there to help us perimenopausal women. I can’t thank you enough for what you have done for myself and my family.

Understanding Menopause: Symptoms, Solutions, and Thriving Through Midlife

Menopause is a natural stage of life, but that does not mean women should expect to suffer through it.

Hormone Therapy: What Every Woman Should Know

Hormone therapy remains one of the most effective treatment options for many women experiencing symptoms related to changing hormone levels. Whether a woman is navigating perimenopause, menopause, post menopause, primary ovarian insufficiency(POI), or other hormone-related conditions, individualized hormone therapy can significantly improve quality of life when it is appropriate
for the individual.

Hormone Therapy: Separating Fact
from Fiction

For many women, the decision to consider hormone therapy is accompanied by uncertainty, fear, and conflicting information. You may have heard that hormone therapy causes breast cancer, heart disease, blood clots, dementia, or that it should never be used after a certain age. Others have heard that “natural” hormones are always safer or that hormone therapy is the
answer for everyone.
The truth is much more nuanced.

Hormone Therapy Is a Tool—Not the Entire Toolbox
Why Feeling Better Matters

One of the biggest misconceptions about hormone therapy is that it is either a miracle cure or something women should avoid altogether.

The truth lies somewhere in between.

What Should I Eat During Perimenopause and Menopause?

One of the most common questions we hear at The Menopause Wellness Center is:

“What should I be eating?”
